We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Cowboy/Ranch Hand to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a skilled horseman, capable of working long days in extreme weather conditions, both heat and cold. This role requires someone who is self-motivated, works well in a team environment, and can handle a variety of ranch tasks, including cattle care, horse maintenance, and general ranch upkeep.
Responsibilities:
- Horsemanship: Must be capable of riding horseback for long days in challenging weather conditions.
- Personal Horses: Must provide and maintain at least 4 personal horses and be responsible for their care.
- Horse Maintenance: Must be proficient in shoeing your own horses.
- Roping and Cattle Care: Must be able to rope proficiently, spot, and doctor sick cattle, and maintain accurate doctoring logs.
- Teamwork: Work closely with management and other employees, taking direction.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Assist in maintaining company vehicles by regularly checking fluids, tires, and reporting any issues.
- Livestock Handling: Experience in shipping, processing, preg-checking, and administering vaccines to cattle is required.
- Ranch Projects: Be willing to assist with various ranch projects such as building and fixing fences, maintaining ranch property, and other tasks as assigned by management.
- Heavy Equipment: Experience with winter feeding and running heavy equipment such as tractors and loaders is a plus.
- General Ranch Upkeep: Help with the upkeep of the ranch, including cleaning and other assigned duties.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience working on a cattle ranch is required.
- Horse Skills: Strong horsemanship and the ability to care for and shoe your horses.
- Cattle Skills: Proficient in cattle care, including doctoring, roping, and maintaining cattle health records.
- Physical Stamina: Able to work long hours outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Team Player: Ability to take direction and work well with others in a team setting.
- Equipment Operation: Any experience with operating heavy equipment such as tractors and loaders are a plus.
